Our commitment

Playground Digital Pty Ltd ACN 694 274 989 (Playground Digital, we, us, our) provides digital marketing services to childcare and early learning operators in Australia, including paid advertising, content creation, social media management and marketing intelligence services. We recognise the right of individuals to keep their personal information private, and we value the trust placed in us by our clients, prospective clients and the families whose information we handle in the course of providing our services.

Playground Digital is committed to managing personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). We make every effort to ensure that the personal information we collect is secured and protected from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

This document sets out our policy for managing personal information and is referred to as our Privacy Policy. It applies to all personal information collected by Playground Digital via the website located at www.playgrounddigital.com.au, via the advertising campaigns and landing pages we operate, and through our other interactions with you.

Playground Digital is part of a group of companies that may include related entities operating complementary products and services in the early childhood education sector. Personal information may be shared within that group for the purposes of providing and promoting services that may be of interest to you.

What is personal information?

The Privacy Act protects personal information about individuals handled by organisations.

The Privacy Act currently defines "personal information" as information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable:

It includes information such as a person's name, contact details and billing details. Some personal information, including information about ethnicity, religion and health, is considered to be sensitive information. Playground Digital does not generally seek to collect sensitive information, and will only collect sensitive information with your consent where it is reasonably necessary for our functions or activities.

The two capacities in which we handle personal information

Because of the nature of our business, we handle personal information in two distinct capacities:

Where we handle parent or family information on behalf of a client, the client's own privacy policy will govern how that information is subsequently used and held by the client. We encourage parents to review the privacy policy of the childcare provider they are enquiring with.

Parent and family enquiry information may also be shared between Playground Digital and its related entities and partners, including where the enquiry was generated on behalf of one group entity and another group entity operates products or services relevant to your enquiry. By submitting an enquiry through a campaign or landing page we operate, you consent to your information being shared in this way for the purposes of responding to your enquiry and providing and promoting services that may be of interest to you.

What information do we collect and hold?

The kind of personal information we collect will depend on how you interact with us. It may include:

You may visit our website anonymously and without identifying yourself. If you identify yourself (for example, by submitting an enquiry form), any personal information you provide will be managed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

How do we collect your personal information?

We collect personal information directly from you when you submit an enquiry through our website, correspond with us by email or phone, meet with us, or enter into an engagement with us. We collect parent and family information when it is submitted through advertising campaigns and landing pages that we operate on behalf of our clients.

In addition, Playground Digital automatically gathers certain usage information, such as the number and frequency of visitors to our website and to the landing pages we operate. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies, as described below.

Why do we collect personal information?

We collect, hold and use personal information in order to:

Without certain information, it may not be possible for us to respond to your enquiry or provide our services.

Cookies, analytics and advertising technologies

As a digital marketing business, we use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies on our own website and on the campaigns and landing pages we operate. These technologies may include:

A cookie is a small piece of data containing a unique identification number that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your device. The information collected by these technologies is generally not personally identifiable in our hands, although the platform providers (such as Google and Meta) may associate it with their own account holders in accordance with their privacy policies.

Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, or to refuse cookies altogether, although some features of our website may not function fully if you do. You can also manage advertising personalisation through Google's Ads Settings and Meta's ad preference tools, and opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser opt-out add-on.

How does Playground Digital hold information?

Playground Digital stores personal information on cloud hosting and software platforms provided by reputable service providers. Where personal information is processed by a third-party platform on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the platform provides an adequate level of data security.

We maintain computer and network security measures, including access controls, user identifiers and passwords, to control access to our systems. Our website is HTTPS encrypted to support the secure transmission of information via the internet. Users are nonetheless encouraged to exercise care in sending personal information via the internet.

We take steps to destroy or de-identify information that we no longer require. Where we hold parent enquiry information on behalf of a client, we retain it only as long as is necessary to deliver and verify the relevant leads and report on campaign performance, or as otherwise agreed with the client.

The purposes for which we may use and disclose your personal information will depend on the services we are providing. We may disclose personal information:

We may also disclose your personal information to related entities and partners of Playground Digital for the purpose of marketing products and services that may be relevant to you. This includes parent and family enquiry information, which may be shared between related or affiliated companies of Playground Digital, or with companies with which we have a partnership or alliance, for the purposes of generating, maintaining and handling enquiries. Where personal information is shared with a related entity or partner, that entity will handle your information in accordance with their own privacy policy, a copy of which will be made available to you.

Third parties to whom we have disclosed your personal information may contact you directly to let you know they have collected your personal information and to give you information about their privacy policies.

Playground Digital may use Application Programming Interface (API) software to transmit parent enquiries, tour requests and waitlist registrations to CRM or childcare management systems used by our clients. By submitting an enquiry through a campaign or landing page we operate, you consent to the transmission of your information, including personal information, in this way.

We do not sell personal information. Where we share insights, benchmarks or campaign performance information with clients or other parties, we do so using aggregated or de-identified data that does not identify individuals.

If you opt out of receiving marketing material, Playground Digital may still contact you in relation to its ongoing relationship with you, including in connection with any current engagement.

However, parent and family enquiry information may be shared with our related entities and partners as described in this Privacy Policy, and those entities may contact you about products and services relevant to your enquiry. You can opt out of such communications at any time using the unsubscribe function in any communication or by contacting us.

However, some of the service providers and platforms we use — including Google, Meta and certain cloud software providers — may store or process information on servers located overseas, including in the United States and other countries in which those providers or their data centres operate.

Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient handles the information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through contractual arrangements or by relying on the recipient being subject to a law or binding scheme that provides substantially similar protection.

How can you access or seek correction of your personal information?

We endeavour to take reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up to date.

You are entitled to request access to your personal information held by Playground Digital, and to seek correction of inaccurate personal information, subject to certain exceptions set out in the Australian Privacy Principles.
